Fund raising night for Darcie Holmes.
UPDATED 23RD MAY
Darcie is 4 years old now and has already had her operation, this event is to raise money for the aftercare and physiotherapy she needs.
FREE ENTRY!
Venue: The Prince Albert pub.
Darcie suffered brain damage after she was born prematurely. She will get the chance to walk normally – if her parents can raise £45,000.
Two-year-old Darcie Holmes suffers from diplegic cerebral palsy and cannot walk more than a few yards without falling over – often leaving her covered in bruises.
But Darcie is set to undergo a life-changing operation in America – providing the money can be raised.
Her parents Victoria, 34, and Martin, 30, of Kendal Avenue, Hyde, are delighted that she has been accepted by St Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri to have the surgery which is not available in Britain.
"It’s going to change her life," said Victoria.
"She will be able to walk normally and participate in sports like all the other children.
"The operation has been performed on more than 2,000 children and has a 100 per cent success rate."
Darcie weighed just 3lbs at birth and her parents soon noticed she had problems with her legs.
The condition means the muscles in her legs are permanently contracted and she often walks on her tiptoes like a ballerina.
