I'm not keen on the name Biker Match because it sounds like a dating site. If it was called something else I would feel more comfortable promoting it to people I know and meet.
I've found it to be friendly and there is lots to join in with. Like today at Ride To The Wall I met alot of new people and hope to meet them again, if I can remember their names, lol.
Because the name is more directed at dating then I suppose it can attract people with the wrong ideas. I think the name should better fit the social nature of the site.
I enjoy the site and the people I meet, that's why I renew my subs and hope it continues this way.

Yamahama, it started off as a dating site but has gradually evolved of its own accord into a web-based biking club or group with a high proportion of singles.
It's up to Matt, of course, but a change of name now might cause more confusion than clarity, I reckon.

Aye, when I saw the advert on Facebook I was initially put off with it being a dating site. Having joined it I've found it to be a great online motorcycle club, which is just what I needed to find. Maybe the branding does need to be revisited but then Google will hate you ;)

As for a nicer picture rockchick1965, I do have a second pic in my profile that shows my more relaxed side. But I spent a good deal of time taking and tweaking that one, it's one I'm particularly proud of from my photography output ;)

RC does have a point ST... the pic is a tad scary lol...
i agree with yamahama; i joined the site out of interest in the events/information... not interested in dating or finding a date... there's so much more to the site than that. I have met a lot of amazing new friends.

Even on a dating site people have a responsibilty to act like adults and not just say they are.

I agree that people should behave as adults, but dating sites are renowned for their activities. This site is not like that but the name surgests otherwise. Therefore situations can arise and have to be dealt with that could be avoided.

Errrr it is a dating site, just cos the people on the forum don't use it as such doesn't mean it isn't.

The number that post in the forums compared to those who PM and use it as a dating site are I suggest less. Matt I'm sure would have the actual figures.

I certainly wouldn't pay just to be on a biker forum, there's loads of free excellent sites of which I'm a member of several and if Matt advertised it as such he simply wouldn't get the income.

i have done more socialising than dating and its refreshing to hang out with people and have fun. Without pop ups every ten minutes lol as happens on some sites.

yes shadow, bm is a dating site among other things .... not everyone is searching for a partner via websites... i wouldnt pay subs for that... people can say anything about themselves online/profile.. you cant beat face to face interaction, and body language for good old fashioned dating (in my opinion). we are all entitled to our opinion.. so long as we respect other peoples. I think everyones comments within this thread has been interesting and very valid, but always their opinion, whether we agree with it or not...

I do feel a bit uncomfortable with the name "BikerMatch" because dating sites do come with a certain amount of stigma and it does make me cringe a bit wearing the sweatshirts etc. advertising it, but when people come up to me and ask what the clothing is about I do tend to describe it as a social site rather than a dating site, but saying the dating side is there if you want it. When I joined the site initially I was involved with someone and we went to events etc. together, we were just looking for more like-minded people and I think the site works really well for that. You get as involved as you want, or just sit back and read what others are up to until you feel comfortable enough to join in. I've made lots of new friends and been to quite a few events which has increased my social life immensely. Like has been said, each to their own, but we're all entitled to our own opinion.

RIGHT !!!!........... I'm getting really pissed off with all these Irish/Paddy jokes on here ! Talk about racist ???? Do you people not know that this is causing me sleepless nights, and an enormous amount of hurt and distress. Its not only the fact that, I'm black and gay, but you always have to push it too far with the Irish jokes aswell !! Its high time you started clamping down hard Matt, and weeding out the wheat from the chaff in here !
There I've said it, and I feel better for it. I just hope this has struck a cord and hit home with some of you. You know who you are, Wheelbarrow/Marsey/Mozie !!!!

Anyway enough of that........
