er all those annoying little toerags no they would give some lip and I get arrested for slapping the little shites lol Thankfully not all kids are lippy. Apart from that job, and the obvious ones that ex service folk choose, such as security guard, copper, fire fighter etc I can't think of a job for you. Probably would help if I knew you. Maybe you could ask at your local job centre for career advice. Whatever you end up doing I hope it suits you, good luck

Well folks been looking into Close protection officers courses they come in for the best around £4 -5000 and the web forums are maxed out with guys looking for work, apparently the Americans are dominating the contracts in Iraq now that the UK has pulled out militarily.......one of my froends has just done the course so I'll see how he gets on... Still thinking about the ROV course just need to prod a few companies first to see what the employment chances are once the course is done....... so if you are an employer and are looking at a reliable well maintained worker with years of leadership/ man management and indepth instructional experience give me a shout lol....I could be just what your after......... gotta try lol

Would rather slide down a razor blade using my nuts as brakes than earn a living on mostly honest peoples suffering because they have lost jobs....

Lots of ex forces go into the prison service (mind you a lot of ex forces become cons as well!)

or I know a lot of nurses, espeicaly in mental health who were in the forces - its 3 years back at college though but you get a busary (usu about £6000 a year) to do it.

+1 on the adventure training instructor. My friends daughter has just started as a trainer with outward bound. She was a soccer player for Cov Girls and was also in the sea cadets so had all her sailing qualifications. A great job for her, the first time away from home. I'm sure they would need slightly older people for supervisory roles. PS. I was being ironic suggesting 'Repo man' agree with you sh-t job!

How about the military police ? My ex husband did his 22 yrs in the RN and had a few jobs before joining. He enjoys it and the shifts aren't a problem cos you are used to iffy working hours being in the services. As far as I know they are still recruiting cos he has only been in a couple of years

Lots of ex forces go into the prison service (mind you a lot of ex forces become cons as well!) Become cons? I've never heard of that before and I've had 30 yrs experience of service life, first with my ex hubby now with my son. I'm hoping when it's my lads turn to leave the mob that he stays on the straight and narrow.

Eh? Military Police is full time soldiers job, the only ones for after service with MOD as far as I know are Military Provost Guard Service (MPGS) who werar combats and guard the camps ( may be disbanded in cuts) or the Military Guard service (MGS)blue uniforms and check passes ( again may be disbanded in cuts). There is the MOD Police but not recruiting as getting massive budget cuts......But never heard of military police after your 22 years..... ewwww makes me shiver the thought of being a service policeman....

But back to my latest idea........ is anyone or know of anyone working in the fibre optics business or cabling/ air blown fibre optics cable laying, smart buildings etc, I have a course that I can do for 5 weeks with 2 weeks placement but I don't want to spend £5000 on a course if there is no work out there and was wondering what the job market is like in the business at the moment.????

Someone mentioned offshore, mate of mine did training in ropes (dunno the technical term!), he has now been working in Quatar, Croatia, etc etc. Once qualified, the work isnt too hard to find as the same companies tend to rehire the same people. Although it does mean working abroad for months at a time. He enjoys it though, and the money is good. 4 months in Croatia - £32,000.
