Hello all.

I have my dads 1986 genesis fzr.
She hasn't run since 2001 so I decided to give her some loving. Not a rebuild like my honda as I really want to get out riding on her ASAP...

So me and friend Mick have taken the carbs off and replaced all the little parts and seals in there. We have steam cleaned the bike and radiator. Aswell as petrol tank ect. Today we got the bike running and she sounds beautiful. (I did a video however I cant upload it) Alittle blow in the exhaust but im hoping its nothing serious.
The fairing had abit of damage to the screen aswell which im planning on repairing.
I brought her new tyres as I know she's never had them changed so they wouldn't stick to the road now. Bridgestones were the only ones I could find as a pair. Apparently around 5 years ago the tyres got discontinued...
Then she will be ready for mot and to be ridden. 😁😁
I have learnt how to do calipers too which has been great 👍

So thats my update but also abit of help is needed. I am looking for a genuine fuel tap. I have looked everywhere I can think of so if anyone can find one please send me the link as I have found another fuel tap and ordered it however I would prefer an original.

Thank you for reading. Hope you're all well. Can't wait for this lockdown to be over so we can go out to play 😅😁🙃

Hey Richy.
Thanks for getting back to me. I dont have the fuel tap it is just missing so I have ordered one but I would like to find the original
I also use wemoto and they don't have the original but yes they do have repair kits. No good to me when the fuel tap isn't there.
Yes cant add pictures here but I have in my motorbike folder on my profile

Thanks again

Have you tried Fowlers?
They were always very good when I had my shop and according to their site, still cater for older models.

Yamspares helped me a lit when looking fir parts for my DT..also if you contact the Yamaha owners club. Facebook (I dont like it much) have several Yamaha groups where parts are sold..great to know I'm not the only one running older machines and you sound very mechanical minded...look forward to the pics.. good luck 🙂

Hiya, picked this thread up while I was mooching Ebay for a few odds and ends. I did a quick search and a couple of listings came up. Don't know if this link (copy and paste it and google search should find it) will work but might be worth a look...?

Hope this helps, good luck with the rebuild!
