i bought a lifan 2 weeks ago (only to practice until I take test) it had been starting fine, MOT on Monday. planned to go to work on it on Tuesday and it started but cut out while I was fastening lid, haven't been able to get it going since. HELP!

Do you have petrol in it ?? or have you left the choke on ? check ALL the simple things 1st

As above, also check you haven't inadvertently hit the kill switch on the right next to the throttle.

checked choke, full tanl of fuel on Monday just before MOT. fuel on, kill switch where it should be. ive lost 2 days of decent weather I should have been practicing in, never pass test at this rate :-(

Good point about the fuel tap, and if it is on try turning it off and to reserve just in case it's got some crud in it.
Do the electrics work? Light horn etc even if the engine won't start?

new spark plug and holder and all seems to be well. started first time every day since Saturday :-)
