Jaffa @ 17/04/2014 00:45

depends on where your planning to have it?? we might be we shall be married and just back off honeymoon by then
zzrbabe42 @ 17/04/2014 05:46

just dont want to have to travel a million miles as we usually do for a lot of the bm stuff.no offense but theres never much organised up the northish area and before anyone shouts well organise it yourself i have tried and no response.
zzrbabe42 @ 17/04/2014 05:49

Yes sounds good to me
JP @ 17/04/2014 08:27

Jaffa will Mrs Jaffa be there lol
Brummie Jackie @ 17/04/2014 11:31

We could go back to Friskney
Bikeabill @ 18/04/2014 02:01

I would be up for this, work commitments permitting.
DAVE VM @ 18/04/2014 02:33

I like the sound of this

But we've been at Friskney several times now

I think it's time for a change of venue

What about the Moth & Lantern that was mentioned earlier this year

It's a bit more "northerly" & might attract some of our "family" from over the border

Emzed @ 18/04/2014 04:54

oooh yes emzed the moth and lantern would be an excellent venue
@jaffa if your seriously doing it i can help you if you like and will contact jay and lynn.we need to know numbers though and if anyone wants rooms.let me know if you want any help not wanting to push in or owt lol just thought might offer my help
zzrbabe42 @ 18/04/2014 05:50

Retford nr Shefield . That ain't Northerly . As far as us Northeners are concerned it's practically cockney lol I'm also convinced that folk south of the Black Country have a definite whiff of French in their accent lol.

Most bikers fall into one of two categories.

1/ a good wknd is parking up on a friday . Getting legless all weekend. Riding home Sunday .

2/a good wknd starts when ya throw a leg over ya bike. Pitch your tent. Socialise over a couple of beers and a bbq.off to bed, up earlyish for breakfast. Spend the day riding through beautiful places . Followed by , socialise over a couple of beers etc etc .

A weekend has to be one or the other coz a compromise weekend suits no one .

60 people sitting on bikes in a traffic jam of their own making only suits the kind of people that think it's 'cool' to sit in a bike traffic jam lol.

Know your customer and specialise .
dustin666 @ 18/04/2014 20:42

we didnt say it was ooop north dustin lol just a bit more northerly than usual.but its only a suggestion.but its a really nice venue and the food is really good and the owners are brilliant
zzrbabe42 @ 18/04/2014 21:23

Hi zzr Emzed. Checked it out online. It gets a very good write up. An ideal venue .
dustin666 @ 18/04/2014 22:16

Anything above Watford is northerly lol

I now know from Dustins comments, why my kids like a lot of garlic :-)
davidneale @ 18/04/2014 22:30

The moth and lantern was one of the ones I was thinking of debsz don't want to do friskney again this year fancied a change the other one was Keswick in the barn that BJ was going to do will look at different venues over the next month and post ideas and links up to see what interest there is as the more the merrier
Jaffa @ 19/04/2014 00:17

PS any other venue suggestions gratefully received as im looking for somewhere I haven't been before to camp and ride with good company and good beer cheers for the suggestions already debz and dusty the moth and lantern looks interesting debz and dusty will have a look at yours tomorrow will also check out Keswick the only thing against Keswick is I have been to it too many times recently but the barn idea is a good one
Jaffa @ 19/04/2014 00:28

thats cool mate i dont think i will get to keswick if it goes there as its nearly double the mileage and with the wedding and everything this year have to watch the pennies.but we will see what everyone else thinks and where it ends up
zzrbabe42 @ 19/04/2014 06:47

How's about Tan Hill it would be lovely and cool up there
Bikeabill @ 19/04/2014 14:33

Tan hill , the highest pub in the world. (north of Watford). Is really bleak , desolate and windy lol. Mind you , MADDY PRIOR stopped off there for a pint the other week xx . A better bet would be Dent . Check it out on Google earth. There's been several bike rallies held at the High Lanning campsite. The village and 3pubs are quite used to bikers.
dustin666 @ 19/04/2014 17:01

i was hoping for somewhere new that bm hasnt been before to give us more scope for future events????
zzrbabe42 @ 19/04/2014 17:49

Hi Zzr

I suppose it depends on what type of event you want.

Camping , bunkbarn , pub b&b , b&b , hotel.

If you want some seclusion . The population of the Highlands of Scotland is just over 200k .

In Cumbria there are more sheep registered than people . Pop under 500k. We have several excellent rugby club venues for rallies but you're gonner need a couple of hundred peeps. I know several country pubs that will cater for small gatherings , up to 50 peeps.

Problem is getting people to go . Even Kiss is lucky to get 100 peeps turning up on the day.

Then of course there is the bikes versus cars debate.

The only way to guarantee a quality weekend is to do it yourself. That way ya get everything ya want .sunshine optional .
