I had a conversation with the guy in the BMW garage today, he told me they do not hold the paint for my BMW K1300S HP....I said "your telling me BMW do not do paint for something they sell"? he said no"
So I phoned BMW UK and they said leave it with us, a short while later I get a call from the garage telling me they had mysteriously sourced the paint and would have it delivered in a couple of days......
Basically I think they wanted me to buy new panels instead of just getting the small scratched rubbed and sprayed...the colours are the same they use in their motorsport cars etc.... Night black, lupine blue and Alpine white...... what total bollocks....i think my time using this dealer is over... Clarks BMW Dundee
List of their incompetence 1. When I ordered new bike, told me no problem it has been sourced. 2. Salesman goes on holiday and then tells me he cant get one after he came back there are none in the country..... I called a dealer down south and he got one for me in 2 days. 3. Had an off a few weeks back slow speed on a corner, broken mirror, footpeg and gear lever. Scratched fairing top fairing and belly pan as well as a few light scratches on rear body work no breaks. 4. Told they cant get the decals so I had to buy new right side fairing. 5. Quoted £2700--- so i went to the workshop and surveyed the bike, a third of the stuff on the list wasn't even marked or damaged. 6. After telling them I was not using insurance it was reduced to £1350..and i insisted on the panels with just light scratches to be painted. 7. that was over 5-6 weeks ago bike is ready apart from..YES you guessed the three areas needing a respray have not been done....I left with them in disgust and have now involved BMW UK.... 8. Told they do not do that paint ....well what bollocks... 9. Oh yeah I have never been kept up to date with progress, so far I think they have broken every one of their ten 'Customer Promises', the only ones i did have was We will make sure that you are able to A. We will make sure that you are able to park when you visit our dealership. B. We will always offer you a test drive.* when i looked at the K1300S originally
BMW Motorcycles keep spares including paint colours fo a minimum of 20 years. A lot of the older stuff is kept in a huge warehouse on the Motorad site in Berlin.
I think the problem is due to the BMW K1300S being a relatively new model. However I find it hard to believe that a company like BMW haven't got good stocks of a simple thing like paint.
