well i think it's a brilliant idea being able to buy someone a membership as a present and i'm sure that some of them would join when they saw what the site is about so lets have it Matt.
Was thinking about this. There is a way round the whole "what happens if" situation. If you buy the membership for someone else as a gift then there could be a box you tick to agree that you are bound by the terms of the site and that is purely as a gift and that there is no undue influence or expectations of the giftee (or some such legal terminology that would make that sound better).
