Just stumbled upon this. Anyone have experience/heard of it?
Wheels2Work provides an innovative way of overcoming transport barriers to key services offering individuals their own transport solutions for up to a nine-month period until a longer-term solution can be found. The scheme is delivered through a 50cc Yamaha scooter loan, which is provided complete with fully comprehensive motor vehicle insurance, road tax and provision with service costs. Clients meeting the criteria are required to undertake a Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) course and Rural Ride training, both of which are free. A monthly fee is paid for the scooter loan.
If your application is successful you will get a moped for six months after you have completed your Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) at no cost to yourself.
Safety equipment - helmet, gloves, protective jacket, waterproof coveralls and a reflective vest.
Insurance, tax and servicing are all covered by the scheme.
Participants are required to make a contribution of £15.00 per week.
The article I read was written in March 2009 so I am not sure if the scheme is still going.
