It's dead easy Craig

(1) COPY

Click with your mouse left button at the top of your post, then drag the mouse down to the bottom of your post, keeping the mouse button pressed while you do so.

You will see that all the text is then highlighted.

Press the CTRL key and while pressing that, also press the C key.

This copies the highlighted text.

(2) PASTE

Then if your post has completely disappeared when you look at the topic again and you want to post your original message again without retyping it, all you need to do is click into the post reply box...

Then press the CTRL key again and while that's being pressed, also press the V key.

This "pastes" your copied text into the box... Hence the term "copy and paste"

It's a long-winded step by step explanation for an easy procedure, but once you've learned it, you'll find it really useful. You can copy text from anywhere using this and paste it into other documents... It saves a shedload of time spent typing

All you need remember is:

CTRL + C = Copy
CTRL + V = Paste

Yep just as WB said but saves draggin cursor, just click at beginin of text etc that you want then 1,2,3 ctrl+ steps an its "simples" as the Meercat wud say CTRL + C saves what you copy to the computers memory (called the "clipboard" ) it stays there till you replace it with someting else. Em

Half the time I end up highlighting an entire page when I do CTRL + A, so I always go for the dragging method

It's just done it to me again! Its a good job I copy my messages before sending them. Has the swine flu infected the systems?

As for all these key strokes to copy, save and paste, what's wrong with using the mouse and clicking on copy and paste from the pull down menus. BTW, not all of us right or left click since we have just the one button.

Now to copy as a precaution before sending this.

One step at a time Cata

The key strokes are handy to learn for when your mouse throws a wobbler and goes on cheese strike.
