Event: Brechin Harley Davidson in the City Festival

About the Festival
The Legendary Harley-Davidson® in the City Motorcycle Festival is now in its 8th year. While it has been a long, twisty and sometimes hard ride to keep this celebratory event of the Davidson connection going, we have, and you have continued to show your support it – so from everyone on the Festival Management team, we would like to extend a warm welcome to you and wish you an exciting weekend of taking part, supporting, volunteering or watching on what is now one of the major events in Angus, attracting in excess of 18,000 attendees at the festival in 2018, over the two days, to Brechin & Angus each year.

This a non commercial event organised by the community of Brechin for the benefit of Brechin and the surrounding area, as well as Angus as a whole. We do not charge an entrance fee, we do not charge you to park and we welcome all of members of the community, with easy access to the site for disabled from adjacent dedicated parking.

As part of the continued development of the event, we are pleased to have on the management team, representatives from HDRCGB (Harley-Davidson Riders Club of Great Britain) and as well as a number of local Harley-Davidsons® owners, who have continued to provided invaluable input into the planning for the event, for which we are very grateful.

The HDITC event is a fantastic example of a community and the groups therein coming together to support an event, as well as raising funds for their own organisation. This year sees a record number of traders, stalls and displays, and we expect the event will attract crowds which will exceed previous years if the weather plays its part, and this is due to the continued efforts of the HDITC management team, supporters, volunteers and many others to make the event bigger and better each year.

Remember, the festival is FREE to visit, FREE parking, FREE entry.

We are sure whether you are taking part or just watching, you will have a great experience with the ride-out, music, fun attractions, family fun zone, bike display, demo rides, general & specialist traders, specialist food providers, and of course, all the local shops & hostelries. We have, over the last few years had financial support from many local businesses, as well as input from Angus Council and many others, for which we are very grateful. However, as HDITC is a ‘not-for-profit’ constituted group with Trustees, overseeing only this event, it has, like many other events to become self sustaining and we need your support to do this. All we ask is you give whatever you are able as a donation in one of the collection cans and/or you purchase a programme to aid with meeting the expenses the festival incurs to bring this event to Brechin, and to help keep this festival alive and able to thrive.

We are truly grateful for all the support and donations we have received from local business and individuals alike, all of which has helped ease the risk and burden of responsibility an event of this size brings. Those on the HDITC team have worked continuously, giving a huge amount of their time to get this event organised and give you a weekend to remember.

We cannot sit back and rest on our laurels as we are always in need of additional support from small/large companies and benefactors alike, to ensure the same standard for future years. Planning for the 2020 festival has already started before the 2019 event has even happened, so please show your appreciation & give generously to help us maintain this event for many years to come.

This event was borne out of an initial request from the Davidson Legacy® to the retailers of Brechin in to offer support for the completion of the cottage restoration, lovingly done by them. The cottage was officially opened on July 14th, 2012 and the residents of Aberlemno and Brechin had never seen such excitement as two hundred Harley-Davidsons® rumbled through Aberlemno, and into Brechin. The local people turned out in force to welcome the bikers and to show their pride in this famous local connection, which was mostly unknown to the majority. Thereafter, the event became an annual occurrence, growing each year in popularity & hopefully increasing awareness of the connection the area has with such a world-wide iconic motorcycle.

We take this opportunity to thank the Davidson Legacy® members for all the effort they went through to establish the provenance of the cottage and the connection; and also on your behalf, all those who give their time, resources and support to the festival, for without them this event would not be happening in Brechin!
