Hi all, off to Europe next monday so thought I'd start a post and use it as a travel blog. First attempt so bear with me. Oh and for those not in the know Dilligaf is me monkey, and Dyliss is me 'old man's beemer'. France, Spain and maybe Italy beware Lol
Have a good on fella keep it shiny side up....watch out for those eyeties, they are possessed in a car...
Just a thought, i read somewhere you can get the entry road visa's cheaper at Post offices before you go over the borders in Italy/ switzerland and around that area...if you pay the toll at the border it costs a lot more...
Lucky you. If you are heading from Switzerland to Italy a fabby fun route is the Stelvio pass between the Davos area and the Dolomites. A trillion hairpin bends but with space & a good road surface...there's a couple of photos on my profile if you fancy trying it...enjoy
Thanks all for your good wishes :-), i am actually going so theres at least one sensible person in the group. 'No sniggers at the back of the class room please'. Oh and breaking news one of the group has come of his bike on tuesday. A nasty case of gravel rash on his leg, but the bikes ok, just cosmetic damage. So fingers crossed. Oh does anyone know if i need a euro sticker on my number plate? I've got me high viz jacket, bulb kit and documents together. :-) oh and dilligaf's a naughty monkey, so gets a spank some times :-)
Have a fun trip. Remember that the police carry guns over there! The first time I ever had anybody point a gun at me was in Italy, and that was a copper with an SMG. Nearly crapped myself. You either need the euro symbol and country code on your number plate, or a GB sticker on the bike. For what they cost I think I'd get a numberplate made.
I stuck a GB thingy on my topbox . . . .it fell off on the first days ride, but at least I tried! But was told to do it cuz its a visible excuse to stop you.
Have fun
Hi all I've had a euro plate made up today. Last night at work, so then I've got two weeks off. If anyone knows of anything I might of forgot then please give me the heads up
Dilligaf's really excited, I hope he doesn't egg me on to go too fast
Next post Monday when were waiting for the ferry Yay
have just had an update from the Hairy one. Dilligaf is no more. He egged Al on too much & succumbed to the spead of the **ahem** old mans bike. He didn't hold on tight enough & was squished under the wheels of the following bike.
He went as he would have wanted to go though ..... a few moments thoughts for Dilli.
Hi folks as promised an update on the euro invasion. After the sad loss off dilligaf on the ride down to the ferry yesterday, the mood was very somber this morning on leaving the ferry. Trip has been a long one today as we wanted to get to the best parts of France quickly. Have been part le mans and will stop off on the way back. Went on the toll roads via Tours, Clermont_Ferrand, and now we are hold up in a hotel in Saint Flour. Quick shower needed now as its red hot. And out for some thing to eat. Total milage to ferry 175 and then total today of 445 making total milage so far 617. Will update tomoz. Ps can't wait to get in those mountains yay
