A police officer in North wales was convicted of speeding in a 50mph zone, his recorded speed was 98 mph on the A55 at Colwyn Bay in April of this year whilst escorting a prisoner.

His barrister claimed the road signs fell foul of the law by not being lit at the time of the offense.

He is to appeal against his sentence of a 90 day ban and £500 fine including £1000 cost, but the local DDJ (deputy district judge) said he was happy that the officer was speeding at the time and the fine will stand.

That DDJ must be a biker....good on you bloke.

How unusual - a copper trying to weasel his way out of something he spends his working day punishing Joe Public for.

Maybe the sun glaring at just the wrong angle for him to be able to see his speedo , that coupled with the injured racoon and chicken lying at the side of the road and the sight of a UFO rushing by above his head must have distracted him for a milli second ...................

Surely if he is escorting a prisoner he is speeding legitimately?

There's no such thing as legitamate speeding seb. If it wasn't an emergancy then they have to stick to the ruleof the game as we all do.
