On behalf of Samscokai :
can anyone give me some fundraising ideas for my son who is 12 years of age, he has the opportunity to go to ethiopia with his school on a two week expedition in summer of 2011 and has to fundraise himself the amount of £2500. so far all we have come up with is the usual sponsored things were he has to get individuals to sponsor him for a fun run or some kind of task, and things like car washing, bag packing in stores and general household chores....any ideas more than welcome as would really like him to get to ethiopia for an opportunity of a lifetime..
thanks all
What about a sponsored motorbike pilly ride across so many days and so many miles??Or better still organise a ride for him on here! I am sure there would be quite a few of us who would like to join you!
I had tp help raise £4000 for someone to do the Enduro Africa trip a few yeas ago.
The best fundraser was to have a race night. You can buy the horse/camel race dvd's off e bay really cheap. we copoied the programmes and asked local businesses to sponcer a race we had 8 races on the night and we asked for £25 a sponser in return for a night of advertising them and putting them into our programme. We charged £1 a bet and gave half as winnings and used the other half as profit. during the night we includuing the race sponsewrship and a tombolla on the night we raised about £800 quid you have the tw0 hundred before you start from lthe local firms sponsorship we threw a camel race in too which was really funny.
Good luck
Hi Ross/Sam
Funding and fundraising is what I do for a living...............try doing an internet google searche for youth exchange trips, there is all sorts out there, just got to sift through them! Also, alot of the smaller private trusts will donate towards educational trips as long as you can demonstrate positive outcomes and some match funding. As alot of the other guys have suggested.............car washing, footie activities, even sort out your cupboards/drawers/garages etc and put items you dont need on Ebay.....you'll be surprised what ppl are looking for and will buy that may just be sitting around unused at home!! Good luck!
hiya kwak
apparently a life changing experience where they will be fending for themselves (obviously with adult supervision, but who will keep at a distance unless something major crops up), whilst they are treking across land part of the time there is aimed at helping other kids, with things like painting schools and installing playground equipment, doing things that will improve quality of life for other kids....
Sounds like 'character-enhancing' stuff, I hope he enjoys it there.
Tell him not to forget his camera, before and after shots, maybe you could add his pics to your profile?
maybe you could add his pics to your profile? ..............Kwak, i wouldnt reccommend putting photos of your own kids on a social site, i dont even mention my kids names, maybe being overprotective, but you never know is this day and age i am afraid !!!!
Ask a local place (pub or school) if you can hold a car boot sale in there grounds, a licence is about £30 , charge a £5 per car and you could make a big chunk :)
