MAG has reaffirmed its commitment to the NoToBikeParkingTax campaign, in the run-up to its next mass-protest against Westminster City Council's divisive tax on mobility. In a recent meeting with Westminster City Council, MAG General Secretary Nich Brown confirmed that MAG remains committed to the principle of plentiful bike parking, where it is needed, free-of-charge. "Motorcycles are not a cash-cow for local councils to exploit. MAG members have been adding their weight to the 3,000 strong demos that have been taking place all summer; we will continue to do so all next year if needed." At the meeting, Westminster City Council admitted they aimed to make a surplus of £600,000 per year from bike parking. Adding insult to injury, Westminster City Council offered no guarantee the money would be re-invested to make Westminster's streets safer for riders or to maximise the benefits of motorcycle use in Central London. "Motorcycles and Scooters are a unique form of transport, offering flexible mobility to all sections of society. They are part of the solution to London's traffic problems, the sooner Westminster City Council wake up and acknowledge that the better" said Nich Brown, urging all riders to support the NoToBikeParkingTax campaign by joining the next mass-protest ride. The next demo will leave PARK LANE UNDERGROUND CAR PARK at NOON, SATURDAY 31ST OCTOBER for a mass protest outside Westminster City Council's HQ in Vitoria Street (pre-demo ride leaves Ace Café at 11am).
