That's right Lou! Sharing a laptop at the moment as my wireless has died and only got one network cable long enough to reach!
My fault, I didn't sign out, as when on my own laptop I don't bother.
As for the track day...no point me even considering anything like that yet, esp on a restricted bike but it's something I might be interested in a couple of years down the line. If not a track day then a cornering/braking course on a track.
Have fun DC, in whatever capacity you go in.
I would say you should definitely go for a track day! From what I've heard and gleaned from chatting with folk, it's a fantastic experience and a great way to improve your riding skills in a controlled environment, which is all the better for your road riding.
Well worth checking out. They split riders up into groups according to ability/experience, so you also don't need to worry that you're going to be getting in the way of anyone
Doh! Busted!
Yes, you're right Lou, I posted as the pretty one of the pair!
I can't even blame Roachy either. I checked to see who was logged in, saw it was her and thought "That's ok, I just won't post!"
Two minutes later, what did I do?? And why do you only realise the second you hit the "Post Message" button??
Anyway, back to the thread. Not sure I want to do a track day on a CB1300 DC lol! Be a bit like trying to wrestle a cruise liner around. Now if I had my old VTR (why did I sell it???), then I'd have been up for that in a second.
Thanks for the encouragement Lou. It's something I do intend to look into but I think I'll get more from it when I'm a bit more experienced overall.
More training is something I intend to have as and when funds allow. Two friends from here have just done a 2 day machine control course and it sounded great - wouldn't mind giving something like that a shot too.
Maybe you should consider the track day Geoff (if you get your leathers in time! Ah yes, leathers - another reason why I can't go on a track) - I think you might be surprised how much you enjoy it, even on a cruise liner! So you might have to work a bit harder, doesn't that add to the challenge? At least you know you'd get more than 12 laps of Mallory Park!
I think you're right Roachy about getting more from such a day once you're better experienced generally - but don't do yourself down - the amount of mileage you're munching up at a fast rate will soon have you more experienced than you believe yourself to be
And the more training the better - check out the BikeSafe courses too. Extremely good value for money! I know funds are always tight, but quality training will pay dividends in your confidence levels, riding skills and overall safety.
In Derbyshire they run a scheme to do like an advanced riding course...the authority even pays half of it to promote safer biking within the county...I can do that as soon as I get my full licence and bigger bike...cant wait..it sounds good..but I do intend to do advanced riding properly later on..when finances dictate etc...will go back to the school Im training with now...excellent they are!
