Would it be possible to setup word search, in forums, such as anyone talking about CBR600 or HID headlights, etc?

Evening NK - Yeah - I think it has to be a minimum of 5 characters long for the search box to work? I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong

Did think of it, tried one at the start and one at the end, thinking thats as it would be in a sentence, but didnt work. Do you mean just a whole load of spaces?

Maybe it's 6 characters required... "top" followed by 3 spaces brings up a result

Hmmm.. tried that, HID, space, space, etc brings up things like "hid"ding as a valid search, as "top" would bring up "topographical" for instance.

What about accepting small words, if a space is in front?

OR even if its in quotes such as "HID" take it literal inc capitalization. OK PP, is that an idea?

Would anyone just call them HIDs?

I would've thought you'd be more likely to refer to them as HID headlights... so you can search for "HID headlight"... or "HID, headlight" which would also bring up threads with just the word "headlight" included in posts.

case sensitivity places a massive strain on the server, hence google doesnt do it. It takes all the words you enter, splits them up and then finds all posts that include all words. The minimum of 6 (i think) characters it to prevent people searching stupid things like "or" or "and". Words that you DONT use in searches. Just bung in a load of words, i don't know why it's so difficult Put a bunch of spaces at the end if you must, but just make sure your small word is decent enough to search on. The more selective you are with your search the better.
