Did anyone go today?
I went on my own and after playing bike bronco for 90 miles in super gusty winds (excellent fun!) had a little toodle round.
As every year, I just wish they made the aisles that little bit larger (only a foot or so would do it..) as it seems to take just one person standing in the wrong position to cause a bottleneck. Seems peculiar to this venue.
It was a bit frustrating to try and see the bikes as they seemed to be covered in teenage kids posing for cameraphone pics and an unusually high number of prams this year but I persevered and saw what I wanted to see. (Can't complain - they are our future bikers!)
Then it was off to try and find a pair of decent short gloves to replace the one I had lost en route from the bike park (an almost impossible task - thank goodness for my old friend Colin from Gorgeous Bikes!) and the correct bolt to replace the one that should have been holding my luggage rack on... (for a trip on a Harley, losing just one screw is a result!!)
Anyway, I am back down there tomorrow with a group of friends so I am hoping the wind will have dropped enough for them to make proper use of the ramps.
Anybody else going tomorrow?
Hi TeeCee,
I was there yesterday 14th, I thought it was slightly better than the manchester show but like most shows over the years i feel there are less bikes and more stalls where people tend to impulse buy anyway...Thinking of doing more rallies this year, 10quid more gets 2 nights camping and live music and hopefully a good social scene!!
Spot on about winds...260mile round trip and windy both ways but all in all still enjoyed the day and ride....
Hi cw!
That would have been a long ride in those conditions - good job!
Today was a better day, with less wind for travelling and it seemed there were fewer people as the bikes were more accessible on the stands. I was speaking to a couple of the accessory stand owners that I know and they said that people were barely buying anything at the moment (although the group I was with bought 4 leather jackets, 2 kevlar-reinforced jeans, 2 gloves and a pair of boots between them!). I get free tickets so I can't comment on value for money but I guess it depends what you are going there for.
Wish I hadn't seen that Ducati are offering 0% finance though....
