Been off-line for a bit , managed to kill winXP , deleted a file that
I shouldn't have , turned out to be vital for boot-up . OOps one dead
PC ,
and no disk to revive it . Went out n bought LinuxXP (cheap) copied disk and no instructions , loaded it on to PC by means of recommended button wrong thing to do (completely takeover harddrive) , it completely wipes the harddrive before installation , oh no , no files or email addys , so now I have to start from scratch again .
If you don't have a re-boot disk , DO NOT delete ntl files
Fastjock,
depending on what you are using it for Linux is quite a sweet OS. If you don't get on with shout someone who has ahem unofficial copies of XP.
Ditch the linux, it's crap! It's not Windows and you will have massive compatibility problems with so many things.
Get a mate who knows his way around a PC to come sort it out. Assuming you've got a licence for Windows (most bought PCs have a sticker with licence key on) he/she should be able to use his/her own Windows disk with your key.
Don't even bother trying to learn Linux, you'll be banging your head against a wall forever (I'd only advise u try Linux if your an IT Professional).
