ok i know it's a car and this is a bike forum etc, lol, but I know how many good mechanics we have here so thought I'd ask. I've bought myself a Civic Hybrid. It's in perfect condition, no problems mechanically at all (It's less than a year old). BUT - the screen wash thing doesn't work. I thought it was empty, but it's not - it's full. The motors churn away trying to spray the screen but nothing comes out. Any ideas???

Blocked pipes or nozzles? Try the simple things first, like poking them out with a pin.

Have you turned it off and on again?

or... as Wills said..... also check that the pipe is actually still connected to the pump, any split connectors and to the nozzles. (If the fluid freezes in the pipes they can get forced off.) A little bit of hot water splashed over the nozzles can help too if they are frozen. Good luck!

Have you turned it off and on again? Dagnabbit! Y'always beat me to it! Another one for the heretics-stake chaps/chapesses - is XK back from wood-gathering yet?

Can often happen this time of year Matt. You get a bit of ice or grit in a T-piece or similar and the pressure from the pump pops the pipe off. (Pressure from the pumps pops the pipe off - I've just created a tongue twister.) Clever though they may appear, your washers are of course nothing more than a pipe connected to a pump. I'd suggest disconnecting the pipe from the pump and trying it then. If water squirts out of the pump then you've got a simple blockage or loose connection somewhere. Dead easy to locate. Reconnect the pipe to the pump and then work your way up the system towards the washers themselves, disconnecting the pipe at each opportunity and trying it again. When you get to a connection that doesn't squirt water then the preceeding length of pipe and/or connector is the guilty party.

Mind you, seeing as it is a hybrid... have you tried taking the battery cover off, rolling the batteries around and trying your washers then? Works on my remote control.... *shrugs shoulders*

You are using green coloured washer fluid aren't you Matt? TC has a point, you have to be careful with these Hybrids.

Just been reading about them Geoff... apparently if the battery cannot provide enough power for the washer pump, it starts up the internal combustion engine.... *snigger*

lol sod off the lot of u. I've no choice and have to get a hybrid. A basic normal car will cost me 400 euros per month in tax!!!!! The Dutch don't like cars. Thats' 80 euros in road tax and the rest in income tax. A hybrid will only (And i use the word lightly) about 150 euros per month. I don't want a pi**ing hybrid!!! What a crap selection available to start with. And they're only in automatic which i HATE. :-( Stupid dutch tax man belastingkuts (For anyone who speaks dutch that will make sense). Will try suggestions tomorrow, thanks.
