I've always assumed 8-ish, but I think it's a bit random and in accordance with your local authority's guidelines... they won't do owt anyway until you present them with detailed records stretching over weeks and months! lol

My Mum was horrified when I was cutting tiles one Sunday afternoon, she reckons you're not allowed to do any noisy stuff on Sundays, but I figure if the neighbours can be strimming away at 8am on a Sunday, I can ruddy well cut tiles at 2pm! ;o)

I'd orchestrate a "chance" encounter with 'em and say "Wow - you were at it early this morning - got much to do then?"... if they're half decent, they'll get the hint and apologise and say they'll leave the noisy stuff til later tomorrow... if they're eejits, it still gives you an opening to tell 'em you do NOT want to be woken up by DIY noise at 7.30 tomorrow ;o)

Alternatively, call an impromptu BM street party and invite all those with the noisiest bikes to turn up about 1am?

ROFL!

"And then the fight started"...

I wish I had my old neighbour still... he was fab... I came home one Boxing Day, brandishing me brand new guitar and amp and I bumped into him on t'doorstep...

I grabbed the opportunity and held up my pride & joy and sheepishly said "Guess what I got for Xmas? Seriously though... If I'm out of order with it, bash on the door, I don't want to disturb you"

He grinned and said "Sod that! Turn it UP girlie! Can't wait to hear it!"

*sighs*

Aaaahhhh... them was the days...

Working times are only related to those stipulated in an approved planning application or statutory contract. Given that the builder will have been working from nothing more probably than a verbal contract with your neighbour and that no planning application would be needed for a new kitchen - I am afraid that they won't have any times during which they can't work!! Saying that, they will still be bound by public disturbance laws which say that they aren't supposed to create any noise during "unsociable times of night". Of course, as with so many of the laws in this country, exactly what this means is open to interpretation!!

Ugh. SORRY - WHAT? WHAT DID YOU SAY? SORRY! I CAN'T HEAR YOU.... NOISY NEIGHBOURS? SORRY TO HEAR THAT!!! (My neighbours had a party all night last night. At just before 6am they turned in - just as I was getting ready to go for a blat... needless to say I slept oh-so-soundly NOT, that I decided to make it just a very short trip. Should've stopped over at Wild Bean Cafe for a coffe...)

They are fitting a new kitchen and they're renting? Does the landlord KNOW they are fitting a new kitchen? He may not want a new kitchen. If the tenants are bothering you, in whatever way, first have a word with the landlord, then if that don't work have a word with environmental health. After that I'd set fire to the fuggers! (I hate noisy folk)

Simple answer Karey .... Borrow or buy a shiny metal baseball bat. Then whilst carrying the bat, go into your neighbours house and politely ask them to not start works until later in the morning. And then leave. You'll be amazed how polite you can be and still get results if you're carrying a shiny metal baseball bat. A REALLY big spanner works just as well.

hahah...cheers geoff... but these are not shy little neighbours who wud be easily scared.. The lass is a 21yr old.. PITA ..theyre both local and have grown up round here.. proppa streetwise loud mouthed bullies, they have loadsa mates round here..as i found out abart 2am this morning.. They saw some mates of theirs walkin over the estate at the back, and started shouting and swearing ( in an endearing way of course) and inviting them over for a drink.. so they were out in the garden til abart 3am.. no music on tho..( i guess I aint gettin it as bad as Yadanja..i shud fink misen lucky !!) blesss them !!! So i was up till 3.30am... i aint happy. But i will give them the benefit of the doubt.. will give them a week or two, settling in period. They have an 18mnth old anorl.. who was apparently sleepin upstairs thro all this! As for the private landlord/kitchen, he owns the local shop and has loadsa properties, apparently he told them to go ahead as it wud save him doing it ! I will pay him a visit if it dont get any better...but to be honest, i dont think he will give a stuff. Wannabe..........u got a nice base guitar and a set of drums? Any bikers wiv loud pipes wanna come n party ?!?!

I had trouble from a nosey neibour once they worked in a hotel as manager and cook so was up at opposing times to me in a 7-5 day job they argued all the time had a go at me over my dog barking in the day time (we left him in the back garden with a kennel of course) he's bark to say hello to anyone walking passed the gargen not aggressive we were made to get rid of him by the council (took him home to mum and dads) so payback was due I put both speakers of my sterio against their bedroom wall packed them so most noise would go their way and put it on a timer so it would blast out the radio full vol at verious intervals through the day lol kept changing the timer by spinning it 45 mins each way for a month feck em...................
