Here's a great idea. I'm going to give it a go. If we all join in who knows?
War on Petrol Prices.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

BP have just announced record profits of nearly 3 billion pounds in the first quarter of this year, on the back of increased oil prices. This is an obscene amount which cannot be justified when we are all struggling to meet their prices at the pumps which increase at an almost daily rate. Fuel companies do not charge fair prices, they charge what they can get. In many places where there are 2 BP garages on opposite sides of the same road, the one heading into town is dearer than the one heading out of town. Why do we let that happen? We have a choice. Let’s use it.
There have in the past been many protests, but none of them were very effective or long lasting. Here’s a very simple, effective, and totally legal plan which we believe will drive down the cost of fuel for good.
Here’s the plan
Action 1
Every month the whole nation refuses to buy fuel from a particular supplier while continuing to buy fuel as normal from all the others. We are not inconvenienced but the boycotted supplier will be forced to reduce prices in an attempt to win us back. It’s really important that we still don’t buy their cheaper fuel. Remember that the goal is permanent long term reduction in prices, not just a temporary drop in prices.
Action 2
During the boycott month, a blast on your horn to anyone seen filling up at the garage of the month will remind them of their treachery and draw attention to this campaign.
Action 3
Please forward this urgently to as many people as you can, whether you know them or not, and ask them to do the same. This is crucial to the protest and if we all do this the whole country will be joining our protest within days.
Timetable for boycott
June 2008 BP
July 2008 Shell
August 2008 Esso, Texaco, Total
September 2008 BP
October 2008 Shell
November 2008 Esso, Texaco, Total
And so it goes on, on a 3 month roster until WE decide to stop.
sorry it's all abit long winded but if you can plse take the time to read it I think it just might make a difference. My local BP garage has gone up 3p per litre in just 3 days. I've had enuff!!! Basically we don't use BP in June and every 3rd month thereafter and Shell in July etc.
When you COPY text you have to highlight it and change it to BLACK, when you've pasted it, even tho it may already be black, then it doesn't show up as white.
Action 2 is in fact illegal.
It is illegal to sound your horn between the hours of 11.30pm and 07.00am or in fact anytime when a vehicle is stationary, unless it happens to be in an emergency only.
And these emails that do the rounds are just gimicks.
The fact is that of the total cost of fuel, about 70% or something is TAX TAX TAX TAX. Fuel companies get 1% or something, the oil price & refining is the rest. The petrol stations get a tiny percent tho, which is why so many are run-down sheds.
And that profit that BP have.... microsoft make that each day (ok maybe week, not sure these days).
Oh, and don't forget that the £ is really crap at the moment and so has a knock-on effect on the price of importing fuel!
One more thing, if you think you've got it bad in England (Which is what i thought when i lived there), spare a thought for us in Holland who have the highest costs in the world! The Dutch government had fuel and non-eco-friendly things, so tax highly. It costs about 1.70-1.80 euros per litre here now! And thats with a strong euro!
