This is a security camera with a difference. Just plug it in, in the garage. It records video and sound, you can watch the footage in real time over a wireless network from inside your home, or even on a smartphone, tablet or laptop away from home. The DCS-932L Wireless day and night camera uses a system called 'mydlink' to stream footage to mobile devices. It's also claimed to capture video footage in poor light conditions, making it ideal for garage use. Cost: £99.99 More info at www.dlink.co.uk (Maybe use it with another alarm, in case of electricity outage to the garage.)

You can get that same camera for 50 quid if you use google.

But it's nothing special, there are LOADS of cameras like that. I have 4 cameras which switch to infra-red at night. Protecting my bike and the BM servers etc. I use 4 of these in hidden places around my house (inside and out)...

Bit more expensive but very good quality. Can use WIFI or ethernet cable. I can view all my cameras over the net on my smartphone too of course. It will activate and record movements, emailing photos to you or uploading to an FTP server. The make is one of the most popular.

And if you need more light for outside then there's this one...

Oh and I have a burglar alarm wired up all over my house too. Doors, windows, smoke alarm etc. If anyone triggers it i get a phone call from my alarm box and i can login to see the cameras remotely. I'm sure my neighbours would go check my house with their spare key too if they heard it.

So nobody think about paying me an unplanned visit!
