An amazing barn find collection of classic bikes has just been unearthed in the West Country and will now go up for auction early in the new year.
Stored in a former village hall near Bristol, the machines, including classic BSAs, Triumphs, Velocettes and more, are thought to have not seen daylight for over 30 years.
More than 50 machines are included in the collection and although none is a runner, many are in excellent condition, some with air still in their tyres.
Enthusiast Tim Berry told MCN that locals knew about the stash but no-one had any idea exactly how big or special it was. “Then I got a phone call and was promptly told to get myself over there double quick as the bikes were being taken away on a lorry.
“When I got there I saw them being hoisted in an unceremonious manner cheek by jowl on the back of the open truck. Velocettes shared space with BSAs, Nortons rested on Matchless twins…”
According to Berry, the owner’s family has decided to put them up for auction, along with other machines from a different location, to avoid theft or damage.
The bikes will be among the stars of Bonham’s auction at the Bristol Classic Motorcycle Show at the Bath and West Showground on February 18.
