Ride out for the RAF

Thousands of bikers from across the United Kingdom will be joining forces next month in a colossal ‘ride out’ to show their support for the RAF.
The third annual ‘Ride out for the RAF’ takes place on Sunday 8th May in aid of the RAF Association’s Wings Appeal and the RAF Museum. With riders expected from all over the country, the bikers will ride from Shrewsbury Meole Brace Park and Ride to the RAF Museum Cosford in Shropshire.
Last year’s event saw more than 3000 bikers travelling the route from Shrewsbury to Shropshire to help raise money for the Wings Appeal and organisers are hoping to see a record number of bikers taking part again this year.
The riders will be leaving Shrewsbury at 11:30am on the 8th May and will travel to the RAF Museum Cosford by police escort down the M54.
Registration costs £5 per person with all proceeds to be shared between the RAF Museum and the RAF Association’s Wings Appeal.
The RAF Association provides emotional, financial and practical support for serving and former RAF personnel and their families.
The money raised from ride out will go towards projects including the Wings Appeal’s Miles More Minutes
campaign. Miles More Minutes aims to provide personnel who are serving overseas with more telephone time to call home.
With the use of mobile phones being prohibited for those who are deployed in theatres such as Afghanistan, serving personnel are currently allocated 4 ½ minutes of talk time per day on an MOD line.
Just £20 a month can provide one person with six extra minutes a day to call home.
